After having worked at a community college myself for a few years… I can tell you that this is SO TRUE. I can’t tell you how many ways I’ve been asked in an awkward, roundabout way what amounts to, “Can you get more brown people in this picture?” I’m fairly certain whoever made this image [...]

Even though the illustration is always stick figures, I’ve always admired Randall Munroe’s ability to brilliantly convey emotion and action through them. I’m a regular follower of his comic, and although it’s largely about science and philosophy, today’s is a special jab at typography nerds. :) Have a great weekend!

Back in the day when I was still attending community college classes for a technical degree in graphic design, I did an assignment for my portfolio class where I had to interview people already doing what I wanted to do.
Andrew Bell, one of my favorite artists of all time, actually replied to my emailed list [...]

I am finding more and more that I’m more interested in commercials than I am in the actual movies I go to see. You know the recent series of Coke ads? The ones with all the weird little critters in it? Yeah, the firm that did that commercial is Psyop, and I think I’m in [...]

Since we’re in the beginning stages of developing our business, I’m trying to be good and research the best way to go about running said design business. There are about a trillion sites out there about how to set priorities and deadlines, but this last one I read at LifeHacker.org really seemed to sum [...]

I hate managing my fonts. I hates it, hates it. FontBook barely makes it tolerable; but when I move to a Windows machine, I get nothing but suck. However, I just found a new toy that’s available for Mac and Windows! It’s called Font Explorer X, and you can get a free (if not [...]

Just really quick - WeAreBulletProof.com has one of the BEST intro animations I’ve ever seen. Watch it. And if you have fun with that, they’re a marketing agency that’s done some interesting stuff! Their site is one of the BEST designs I’ve ever seen, though. Applause, applause.
